Before we get all excited, let me start by defining what casual Friday really means in banking lingo. It’s the same white shirts and dark suits you wore from Monday to Thursday EXCEPT <drum rolls> you are allowed to roll up your sleeves today. Hurrah! Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit here but I guess you get the gist. Friday is not when you don your ripped jeans and leather jacket or tank top and mini skirt.. save that for another (work) day and that day is called NEVER.
Now that I have set the expectations straight, Fridays are still when I try to push the proverbial style envelope a bit; especially because the outlook calendar is light (fewer meetings => less formal attire) and more often than not I have plans in the evening with no time to swing by home. That means I need something that is versatile and can easily transition from a day at work to dinner with friends. Plus with Restaurant Week going on (until Feb 10th; pay heed all you lovely NYC peeps) who wants to cook at home when you can indulge in a three- course deliciousness for $42 at the restaurant you’ve been wanting to try out forever. Slurp. Just the perfect way to wrap a hectic week lined with client meetings, networking events and deciphering financial statements. TGIF.
Ciao for now!
