Return Of Two C’s Of Fashion Staples (Part Deux)

A few weeks back we agreed (yes?) to Cardigan being our BFF; now let’s move on to the second C: Camisole. Disclaimer: If you haven’t read the first post yet, just like any movie or book with sequels you’ll start a bit lost but soon be able to put things in perspective and grasp the context.. In this case, like after about two sentences 😀

“Buy Less, Choose Well”- Vivienne Westwood. If I was abiding by that philosophy or compiling a capsule wardrobe, camisole would be a top choice…Bunch of reasons why this qualifies as a closet staple:

  1. Referencing to the comment in earlier post about offices being chilly and womenfolk freezing into popsicles. Well there you go, this is an extra layer to keep you cozy. Or if you are looking to beat the summer heat, ditch that sleeved shirt and opt for a refined silk cami under the blazer.
  2. Nip n tuck: Camisoles smoothen out the unwanted bulges for an overall shapely silhouette
  3. Gaping shirts: No matter the fit, there is always a reasonable probability of a gape in them buttoned shirts. Forget the unnecessary worry with a layer underneath
  4. Overall look: As seen below, I’ve layered a silk fuschia cami underneath a Pinot Noir dress to add a teensy-weensy neon pop and cover up the deep V- neck to make the dress suitable for work
Silk cami: Lutz & Patmos; Jersey Dress in Pinot Noir: Rachel Roy; Tights: Marks & Spencer; Suede pumps: Salvatore Ferragamo
